Biostimulators in Vancouver

Support natural collagen production for gradual, lasting facial rejuvenation.

Biostimulators are injectable treatments that stimulate the body to produce its own collagen, gradually improving skin structure, firmness and volume over time. Unlike hyaluronic acid gels, which provide immediate volume by placing a soft gel under the skin, biostimulators create change by initiating a regenerative response. Our clinic offers two clinically proven biostimulators—Sculptra® and Radiesse®—both designed to restore skin quality and support long-term facial harmony.

Benefits of Biostimulators

  • Stimulate natural collagen for gradual lift
  • Improve skin density and elasticity
  • Long-lasting, natural results

How do biostimulators work?

Sculptra® contains poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biodegradable material that has been used in medical applications for decades. When injected, PLLA particles trigger fibroblasts to build new collagen, strengthening the dermal matrix. Radiesse® contains calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres suspended in a gel carrier. CaHA provides an immediate lifting effect while also stimulating collagen and elastin production as the gel is absorbed. Both products are biocompatible and broken down naturally by the body over time, leaving behind the patient’s own collagen for lasting results.

What to expect during your treatment

A biostimulator treatment typically takes 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the area. After assessing your anatomy and goals, the product is injected with a fine needle or cannula using techniques that ensure even distribution. Sculptra® treatments are generally performed as a series of two to three sessions spaced four to eight weeks apart. Radiesse® may require fewer sessions, depending on the desired outcome. Because collagen production takes time, results develop gradually over several months, making these treatments ideal for patients seeking subtle, progressive change.

What do biostimulators treat?

Biostimulators are well suited for restoring volume in the cheeks, temples, jawline and chin, and for improving skin quality in the lower face and neck. They can also be used for non-facial areas such as the décolletage, arms and buttocks, where skin thinning or laxity is present. In addition to volumization, biostimulators improve the skin’s strength, texture and overall appearance by reinforcing the underlying support structure.

Recovery and results

Recovery is typically brief. Mild swelling, redness or bruising at the injection sites may occur and usually resolve within days. Patients may notice some immediate improvement, particularly with Radiesse®, but the most significant changes appear over three to six months as new collagen forms. Results from biostimulators are long-lasting—often 18 to 24 months—and can be maintained with periodic treatments. All biostimulator procedures are performed under medical supervision to ensure precise placement, safety and natural-looking results.

Biostimulators are ideal for patients seeking gradual, natural improvement in skin structure and volume through stimulation of collagen production.

Sculptra® and Radiesse® are both injectable biostimulators that stimulate collagen for gradual, natural-looking improvement, but they differ in composition, longevity and the type of results they provide. Sculptra® is made of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) and works by stimulating your skin’s own collagen production over time, leading to subtle volume restoration and improved skin quality. Radiesse® is made of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres, which provide immediate volume correction along with longer-term collagen stimulation. The best choice depends on your treatment goals, timeline and anatomy.
