How does CoolSculpting® work?
CoolSculpting® uses cryolipolysis technology, which is based on the principle that fat cells are more sensitive to cold than surrounding skin, muscle or nerve tissue. During treatment, a vacuum applicator draws the targeted area between cooling panels, lowering the temperature to a precise level that causes fat cell crystallisation. These crystallised cells undergo apoptosis, or programmed cell death, and are gradually eliminated by the body’s lymphatic system. Once removed, the treated fat cells do not return, making results long-lasting when a stable weight is maintained.
What to expect during your treatment
A CoolSculpting® session typically lasts 35 to 75 minutes per area, depending on the applicator and treatment zone. Patients may feel an initial sensation of pulling, tugging, or intense cold, which subsides as the area becomes numb. Most patients relax, read or work during treatment. The number of sessions required varies depending on the treatment plan, but many patients see results after one to two sessions spaced several weeks apart.
